Ah, yes, indeed I did. Ironically in Ann Arbor, home of UofM.

Well just checked ISIS and finally received my financial aid reward (I pretty much knew exactly what it was gonna be before though). My file was reviewed on March 27th so it ended up taking less than the 3 weeks that ISIS states it will take the financial aid office to complete a final review. Was a little worried I wouldn't receive the full subsidized loan amount but glad to see that I did. No Perkins though.

Ditto. I'll more quickly take a place that is "just ok" than live with person X.

+1. If I had to, I would work at taco bell in between classes to make sure I didn't have to live with some random person.

Haha that's a little extreme for me, but I will live in a studio/efficiency like a sardine to avoid shacking up with a random person.

Oh good, I'm going to look for housing this month and I'd rather not have to sign a lease for an apartment so squished that my bed is next to the fridge.

Yet now that I think about it, that could have its advantages.

...makes getting the beer easier. Seriously though, there are some nice/big studios out there. If you find a cheap and big studio, it's almost better than a 1 bedroom.

First year Iowa student here. Just wanted to tell you guys that for the most part there are some pretty intelligent, motivated, and most of all rational students at the Univ. of Iowa Law, so you stand a good chance at being paired with a pretty decent and sane human being. I chose to live by myself thinking the same thing: it's better to live alone than live with a strange fellow law student, and now I wish I would have not made this mistake. First, you will go nuts in law school living by yourself with all the time in the world to stare at your books and your four walls peering back at you. Second, living with another law student puts you in a distinct advantage most of the time, you will have a built-in connection/friendship with another 1st year. I know a few students who made this decision to get paired with a law student they did not initially know, and come finals time they had immediate access to someone else to help them resolve matters they did not understand concerning the material.

Third, it's my personal theory that whenever you see someone else studying, it puts the thought into your head that "I am wasting my time right now, I should be studying also."

All said, there's a lot of benefits to living with a fellow law student, even one you don't know very well, and the students at Iowa are top notch.

I've lived with a fair share of random roommates over the years. It's not that bad.
