Top Law Schools

I am strongly considering attending UGA this year so I wanted to start a thread of those who are or are considering attending and we can all be TLS buddies in Athens.

At this point I haven't decided due to lack of scholarship info at this point, so still seriously entertaining the idea of ga law. Who else is in?

i'm pretty much decided at this point. i've visited the campus, toured the school, checked out housing, etc. we really love athens and UGA. i just need to figure out how i'm going to pay for 1st year, but if i can do that, i'll probably be attending.

I haven't gotten a decision yet, but I just wanted to say: Awesome avatar, Hawkeye!

Anyone have an idea how competitive the students are at UGA?

Also, in order to get a job at a top law firm in Atlanta...where do you need to be in your class (top 10-20%)?

These stats look pretty good - Not ridiculous biglaw numbers but pretty solid placement.

Is there an admitted students' day for UGA?

2005 stats...almost irrelevant.

i'm still hopeful though.

i may end up at GA, not sure yet though. I'm an undergrad here now and know tons about athens so if you have any questions about the town/housing/whatever dont hesitate to PM me.

My biggest concern is housing. I am going to visit the campus in March but I have no idea what to do. Should I live on campus and if so where? Should I find a place off campus and if so where? How much should I expect to pay?

They said the tour is only 30 min long so I don't know if I should go tomorrow or wait until Admitted Students Day. Any suggestions?

i think it's just a matter of personal preference. i think i'd go tomorrow, take the tour, walk around campus, drive around town, and look at apartments to get a head start on things. i don't like waiting.

Yeah, they got me set up to sit in on a class at 11:30 ( I was able to pick from 3 choices) & a tour at 12:30. Then, I'm going to drive around Athens & get lost lol.

Aww...y'all are making me miss Athens already with all this talk! Any UGA alums here? If so, are any of you in my position...spent four (or 5 or 6 ) years in Athens and you love it, had the time of your life in that little town, but now just want a different experience for grad school? Perhaps a bigger city? I love UGA but I would love to be in an exciting new city for law school. I was thinking if I stayed in state I'd go to Emory (which I got into as well) because it has more of a national reputation, but UGA's price tag is soo tempting. I'm also afraid a UGA JD won't travel well out of state.

I'm sure you won't get too lost Athens is but so big! I'd go shopping downtown!

YES!!! So, I was just able to claim independent status with an EFC of $0 bucks so I should def get tons more aid without my dad's salary!! Now, I can def move to Athens and not commute with or without Dad's help!
