I did this today... and I am also emailing the school to let them know that I have sent the deposit and form (just in case).

Hey I'm flying down tomorrow because they let me in to lateto go to the ASW.

Anyone have questions they want me to ask when I'm down there? What should I make sure I see?

If you want to see an interesting neighborhood/ good restaurants I enjoyed the Inman Gardens, Little Five Points, Virginia Highlands area. In the city I really enjoyed visiting Centennial Park (Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca Cola).

What neighborhoods can anyone suggest for a nice weekend of clubbing/ restaurant dining?

My gf and I are going to visit and are looking forward to seeing the nightlife.

I'm still debating. Think Emory is my top choice, but so far they haven't offered me any money. Have good money from Wake Forest and UGA and am in-state at UNC. Would be interested to hear other's thoughts.

I went down for ASD and loved it. However, for all that money, UNC could offer you comparable job prospects I think. I was just accepted to USC so I am probably gonna attend, barring any other acceptances. I really did love Emory though.

while the facilities were certainly nice (nicer than USC) they weren't as fantastic as I hoped for. But one must consider the source because my ug was gorgeous. I'll post more about restaurants I liked when i'm not on my phone.

Night: verasano's pizza in buckhead
Sunny day: Front Page News (outside) in little 5
Not sunny day: Vortex (burger, the one in little 5 only!) I use a picture of the entrance as the wallpaper on my phone.

Ya here's the Vortex in Little Five points:

Image

Good prices on beer and good burgers, Gladys Knights Chicken and Waffles in Midtown was good. The Varsity near Georgia Tech is a trip...

Keep in mind that if you eat at The Varsity, you'll have gas approximately thirty minutes later lol. Sooooo greasy. Ick.

If you want a great burger go to Flip Burger. It is not that pricey and is owned by a chef that came in second on Top Chef.

Edit: The Vortex is good, but Flip Burger is noticeably better. If you go on a weekend night, be prepared to wait in a long line.

Varsity is gross, but a must-see. The Vortex has good beer and a good vibe most of the time. Order your burger a degree rarer than you like it because half of the time you'll end up with a hockey puck.

Vortex's burgers are awesome, especially the one with peanut butter (i never imagined pnut butter with a slab of beef would be that tasty)

How are y'all going about finding roommates? Facebook? Or are you all planning on living alone?

I really want a roommate or two...

At this point I am living alone. My rational is that 1L is too important to risk a bad roommate. Unless I knew them for an extended amount of time before hand I don't wanna risk it.

2L year, I would. Not 1L. It helps that I have already found some 1 bedroom w/in walking distance for less than 600

I wound up taking a place over 2 but under 3 miles from campus, right turn off clairmont and a couple hundred feet down the road.... Rents vary between $600-700/mo based on size of place, and if you want one with a balcony/sunroom/fireplace/etc... When I went deposits were waived, $250 off first full months rent... have dishwashers, washer/dryers in apartments, walk in closets, do it yourself carwash onsite, pool/hot tub/cardio room, etc...

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
