I'm locked out of most of the good stuff on the employment page. Hopefully that will change soon, since, as committed 0L's, I think we should have access. Of course, you can e-mail admissions for the 2008 stats but they are basically the same as on the web: 2008 employer type/average salary/% reporting. The only difference is the e-mailed version has % and raw numbers for each field as well as a generic geographic distribution of grads. From what I can tell, the 2008 class looks comparable to the 3 year averages as well as the 2007 stats put on TLS: 61% employed in firms w/an average salary of $142,841 (88% reporting). Clerkships, Government, and Public Interest numbers for 2008 are very close as well.

The only obvious red flag seems to be the 30/40 unreported salaries in the "business" sector. Of course, this could be the case each year: 2007 had 41 business grads and a similar reported average salary. Either way, bottom 10% here I come.

Anyone know anything about those "business" grads? Are they the ones that go to work for the companies (like Shell and Exxon) that recruit at UT for their legal teams? That's be something I'd be interested in, but I'm just wondering what exactly "business" grads do....

Anyone have any info?

"business" typically includes non-law firm jobs like the ones you mentioned, but it also includes starbucks baristas

to see your scholly you have to login to CASH, click on My History, and then click on View Previous Fin Aid Notifications. Scholly appears under "Additional Resources"

How do y'all feel about a TLS meetup sometime in the next few weeks?

I've read about this already but can someone very plainly explain what I should do to get this upgraded ID? Should I just show up to the ID center and say I'm a law student and I need one?

Yup. Just bring a driver's license/passport for identification purposes and they will give you your student ID card and upgrade your EID all at once.

Time Management: Get rid of all your clocks. Now. This includes cell phones and other electronics with time-telling devices. Those tricky things have ruled us for far too long. Throw them all out! NOW!

Space Management: Your mighty 'fro and pocket rockets will surely scare away all comers, thus clearing plenty of space in which you may reign supreme

Study Management: If you never study, you won't have to manage your studying. Problem solved. Duh.

I called the student health insurance office today and they told me it'd be almost $700/semester. that DOESN'T include vision or dental. that seems so expensive! what are you all doing for insurance for the next 3 years?

I called recently and they just told me that health insurance was included in tuition. That was nice to hear b/c university insurance is really convenient for us out of towners; but $700 is rather dear. For those going w/o the university insurance, did you have to fill out a form or something to opt-out?
