I'm actually a little concerned now. If I have, at any point, told any of you to eff off, I apologize.Paichka wrote:Dude, in the land of the nerds, that makes you our king.

What is funny is that I saw about four of them when I visited about three weeks ago. It was just weird.MrOrange wrote:Oh, bloody Hell...Paichka wrote:I might be late to the party on this one, but have you guys seen these on YouTube?

On another note, I forgot to check out where the gym was. Is there one near the law school?

It's a couple of blocks away, IIRC. I don't think we're allowed to use it until we're issued student I.D.s, though.nallku wrote:What is funny is that I saw about four of them when I visited about three weeks ago. Sounds like you found an apartment. We are moving to Roslyn in 9 days. $1500 a month for a 3 bedroom apartment . Its a great place, but seems very expensive when compared to my $400 a month rent right now (1 bedroom).

Ugh...yeah....I found a little apartment in Foggy for less than $1,000 per month, all utilities included. The only catch: no kitchen, just a full sized fridge.nallku wrote:Sounds like you found an apartment. We are moving to Roslyn in 9 days. $1500 a month for a 3 bedroom apartment . We saw some good 1 bedroom apartments, but with a kid and some more on the way, 1 bedrooms weren't cutting it.MrOrange wrote:Ugh...yeah....I found a little apartment in Foggy for less than $1,000 per month, all utilities included. How long is your move? I have a ~40 hour drive.

Yikes...I'm just in Baltimore, so I have to move all of 40 miles. Not exactly comparable...nallku wrote:We saw some good 1 bedroom apartments, but with a kid and some more on the way, 1 bedrooms weren't cutting it.MrOrange wrote:Ugh...yeah....I found a little apartment in Foggy for less than $1,000 per month, all utilities included. I'm glad I'll be in Foggy...my building's two blocks from the LS building. Still...I'm already hating DC for how expensive it is.
btw...more kids on the way? Wow.

1500 for a three bedroom? That's a steal. I pay near that for a three bedroom outside of Savannah.
And Orange, you'll be loving life with that 5 minute walk to campus.

I was wondering the same thing. Sitting in on a Kaplan crash course from 9 to 5 during my first weekend in DC sounds miserable. I don't think I'll be in attendance.Paichka wrote:Any of you guys going to do the free Kaplan course?
BTW, the gym is on G and 23rd, three blocks from the the law school. I took a brief self-guided tour of it and it looks very nice, albeit crammed (this seems to be a theme at GW). And we can't use it until we are issued our student ID's which we get during orientation. I'm still in for the 15th!

I'm going to pass. It sounds a lot like Law Preview, which got less than stellar reviews from people on here.

I wasn't planning on doing it either -- just curious as to whether there were going to be any TLS takers.

Re: GW 2012
I like the area a lot. Seems very safe, relatively quiet (for the time being...lack of undergrads at-present). I haven't done a tremendous amount of exploring yet, though. And I've managed to get towed + collect two parking tickets in three days. I'm getting rid of my car ASAP...FinLaw wrote:To everyone who's already moved in: How are you liking the area you're in? I really need school to start, though. The lack of a gym is killing me, and I haven't pulled the trigger on trying to rip off a local gym for a temporary "free trial". Just seems wrong...
And my schedule's all out of whack because there's nothing to do during the day besides work on my microscopic apartment, read, etc. I'll probably miss the free time once the fall semester starts, but for now......bring on the work!

Re: GW 2012
Hey, I'm glad you're liking your new place -- even if it is weensy. My house is full of boxes, and I have absolutely no desire to start unpacking. It's daunting, and I'd much rather play on the internet and ignore the fact that I can't open my refrigerator as my kitchen is stacked floor to ceiling with crap.
I went and paid for a 1 month membership at the local gym -- I figure that I'll use it until school starts, and then on the weekends. *shrug*
I'm going nuts though. Just ready to get started!

MrOrange you're living in Foggy Bottom right? Glad to hear that you're enjoying the area. Is anybody else having trouble opening the link to orientation info that Dean Richard sent today? I can't get it to load...
