Me too. They emailed the itinerary the next day though....maybe just call the school and ask them to send it to you?LGK wrote:I registered a week ago and got an email four or five days later to confirm.Gargon wrote:For the people going to Featured Friday on the 16th, have you heard anything back from admissions after registering? it feels so good. i'm not going to get any work done today at all. i haven't looked at anything for this school, scholarships, where to live, etc.! total disbelief.

Trust me, I know the feeling. Chicago was a complete Hail Mary for me, but I guess it just goes to show you never know until you try.

Re: Chicago Class of 2012
alright i have three questions about chicago now.
1. how generous are they with aid?
2. they say the quarter system isn't a deterrent for employers...is this true? and does the extended 1L year make 1L associate jobs even less likely?
3. why no study abroad?

Re: Chicago Class of 2012
from lsn and other sources i've talked to, they give a decent number of scholarships, but they seem to cap out right around half tuition - not sure how many need-based grants they give - as to timing, a recent e-mail about fin. aid said scholarships, which are offered automatically, should start going out "soon"gannak wrote:alright i have three questions about chicago now.

Re: Chicago Class of 2012
Preliminary aid packages go out in March, right after the deadline for FAFSA and Need Access. Their classes are small and alums are both loyal and usually loaded, so their endowment is solid, and from what I've heard, they give out a decent amount of aid. It's also nice you don't have to fill out a separate app to be considered.
As for the quarter system, I asked a current UC student about it and she said it did not cause any problems for employment, especially in Chicago. Chicago firms know UC is on the quarter system and are understanding. Many firms just let their Chicago summer associates work two extra weeks at the end of the summer to make up for what they missed.
No clue about study abroad; you might post in the "Ask a Chicago 1L" thread hosted by Corleone (something along those lines.) She seems very knowledgeable about the school.

Re: Chicago Class of 2012
thanks you guys. half tuition is glorious, i'll take it! i'll take anything. i'm just a little worried because i didn't think i had a hope in hell of getting into this school, so merit aid is questionable. i guess my gpa is pretty far above their 75%, and they've totally surprised me so far! big one of these today:

One of Chicago's traditional strengths has been its faculty. Who among the faculty do you most look forward to having as a professor and why?
I'm researching info right now (well, maybe over the course of the next couple days), but I wouldn't mind getting some alternate perspectives.

Yeah, Chicago seems generous compared to CLS.
I like NYC much better but I could definitely be swayed...

I found the link to the thread hosted by the UC student: she's really helpful and responds quickly.

Did anyone start getting recruitment e-mails from Alumi/Current Law students. So far, I've been contacted by both an alumni and a 2L, and am pretty excited about it. By the way, I'm not 100% set on Chicago, but am leaning VERY heavily towards it; this is my first post in this forum.

Because if you get into NYU or CLS...

Re: Chicago Class of 2012
me saying "oh nevermind, i want to stay 3 more years!" a month before i'm supposed to move out is no problem. breaking my lease, on the other hand... big problem. there are two available apartments the same size as mine in my building that have been vacant for a few months... really unusual. i won't be surprised if they won't let me break the lease at all.

How many people here are 100% sure on attending Chicago? Which other schools are people considering?
I'm leaning very heavily towards Chicago, with U of M and NU in a close second.
Any other thoughts out there?? I'm trying to get a few more people active on this thread.

I'm a definite at Chicago. My other top choices were UVA, Texas, and Vandy, but Chicago was my dream school. Windy City, here I come.

I'm heavily leaning towards Chicago, but I'd like to visit to confirm first. I'm also waiting to hear back from CLS, NYU and UMich. UMich would probably require a scholly for me to take over UChi. CLS would come down to impressions from UChi and CLS ASWs. NYU would require more research, but I'm pretty sure I would take UChi over it.

Deadbeat, did you end up getting accepted to CLS or U of M yet? If so, some great options for you.

Re: Chicago Class of 2012
etwake, nah, no response from either. I seem to be in some sort of purgatory at UMich and I can't figure out why. CLS has also been stuck at complete for about 3.5 months now, but the reasons for that are a bit easier to figure out (see #s).
I'm really not too disturbed by this as I've loved UChicago since I first read up on it. CLS or UMich would just be another attractive option that would be nice to have for consideration.
