No Idea..... thats part of the problem!
Well, at CLS you'll have more options & opportunities, and there's more upside in the future. You're young (or you wouldn't have gotten the deferral scholarship)... if you're not weighed down with debt go with the higher risk/investment - higher reward. Plus, New York has the potential to be a fun place over the next few years - it had gotten way too expensive & stifling during the bubble, even if it was more lucrative for lawyers.

True but $210,000 in debt hu? Scary... I am not even sure if I could afford to go!

which private lenders are you guys using for loans in excess of the $20,000 you can get through Stafford loans? I don't want to use Graduate PLUS because there's no grace period after you graduate.

Touché. I was just laying out the case for CLS - I'm pretty sure you can figure out the case for NU on your own 8)

Why do you need a grace period? You WILL have a job.

Yeah, there won't be involuntary deferrals for us. It might a lot harder getting hired, but at least it will be predictable.

But, I can imagine someone might want to defer for other reasons. However, I'd point out that (a) according to Sallie Mae's FAQ, DoE is looking into mandating that GradPlus have the same grace period option as Stafford, and (b) it's probably not worth losing eligibility for LRAP, IBR, and who knows what other student loan help shows up down the line.

Also, at 120,000 over 25yrs your payments would only be 1k a month for your GradPLUS loans. 6k (6 month grace periodx1000) wouldn't totally destroy you anyway, right?

(I know nobody wants to pay over 25 yrs but there is no reason not to extend your payment period due to no early repayment penalties)

Not when you have no responsibilities whatsoever/ you graduated in January but are living at college.

I envy you. A Tuesday-Saturday habit is difficult with thesis, courses, and a 20-hour work week!

I envy your commitment to alcoholism five days a week, despite having several real things to do.
