"Assignment for the mock class" could just mean that they are assigning us to one of several classes, and they'll let us know in advance. I don't think (or hope) HLS wouldn't give admits homework... :)
SparkyLives wrote: Cornell just sent me an alumni magazine with their letter of acceptance....it was weird.
Ditto! It wasn't even their law school magazine, just the university one. The creepiness of the article on people dying in the gorges isn't attracting me to Cornell.
Really, Cornell?

Really?

If it weren't so tragic, I'd be laughing right now.
LOL. I should have applied to Cornell just for laughs.

Oh, and I do believe I read on the admitted students website that we will have homework and an assignment for the ASW mock class.
haha...I just noticed it, right there on the cover.

NATURAL HAZARD:
The campus gorges are beautiful...and dangerous.

Welcome to Cornell!

I have no idea what my login/password are, I guess I have to wait for the binder, then?

I'm in Austin, so not very far west. Sigh. Maybe tomorrow.

Did everyone's email come from a student? Mine was from someone in the admissions office. Anyone else?

Really, I promise I'm not nearly as inane/hung up on details as these posts make me sound. I'm just curious, I promise! :)

Harvard is doing an extremely good job convincing me to go there regardless of whatever other options may come up. I don't know if it is just me, but the binder, emails etc. are really pulling me in.

Well, though I know not everyone is not going right out of college, one thing I can say is that college has taught me beyond everything else that free stuff makes the world go round! ;)

This binder has confirmed it. I'm officially in love with Toby Stock.

Definitely. "Yale isn't THAT great..." has gone into my mind a couple of times. Not that I have that choice! Stanford sounds great, but their website isn't nearly as nice as Harvard's. Hopefully their admissions materials (if I'm lucky enough to get in) will be better.

Those are some of the exact thoughts I had last year: This binder has SO much information! T-Stock knows SO much about me and my interests! My own e-mail address?? Sweet! They'll do well at the open house, too - last year, we got pretty awesome HLS messenger bags. (Truth: more than a couple current YLS 1Ls use the HLS messenger bags around here...)

Still, there's something about the experience of actually being on campus, talking to current students, and just getting a feel for where you'll fit in best...if I made my decisions based on who showed me the most love in mailings/emails, I certainly wouldn't be here in New Haven. But the sense of community that "gels" with you & makes you feel at home is, to me at least, way more convincing than a couple e-mails and some glossy photos. (Also, Yale gave us t-shirts. And sent us coffee mugs w/ handwritten notes. :-) )

Anyone know which ASW they're going to?

March 14-16
April 16-18

I'll probably do the March 14-16 one and stay in Boston for St. Patrick's day (3/17).

Ok, I'm seriously impressed. They matched me with someone from my undergrad with similar interests (although it's really weird because she's two years younger than I am so the idea of her being "above" me at Harvard seems just plain WRONG!)

Am traveling home where my binder waits for me from school for a week, so you guys will have to keep updating on any exciting stuff in the Tome of Crimson Knowledge.

Also, I think the winter term sounds awesome. If you look online a lot of the coolest classes are winter term ones. I saw one on the foundation of political economy in colonial america that sounded really cool when I was prepping for the TS1.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
