Getting student guest tickets involves a lottery but I'm not sure what the supply/demand is for that. I think VT guest tickets are like $50.
My school was D1, but Northern Arizona vs. CSU Sacramento football games just never got my blood pumping.

A partially completed Fall class schedule is now up on SIS. Of note, you guys have CivPro at the 3:40-5 PM timeslot.
It looks like they're filling the schedule in right now so maybe it'll be done by the end of the day.

Yeah, it's only CivPro that's up for 1Ls.gladiator wrote:A partially completed Fall class schedule is now up on SIS. Of note, you guys have CivPro at the 3:40-5 PM timeslot.

Mitchell, Nelson, and Collins are teaching 7 of the 12 sections of CivPro so the majority of you will have pretty solid professors for CivPro. I'm not sure how good the rest of them are.

awesome! how much will we be able to know before we found out which sections we're in?gladiator wrote:A partially completed Fall class schedule is now up on SIS. Of note, you guys have CivPro at the 3:40-5 PM timeslot.

on a related note, anybody know if UVA has seen any waitlist movement and/or if we're over enrolled (again)?

Well all classes are the same timeslots so you'll know when your classes are but professors are set by section so you won't know them until sections are announced which is unfortunately only the Thurs or Fri before orientation.

wow, that's really late. Also, considering you said there were 12 sections for Civ Pro, does that mean that Civ Pro will be the only class that we have only with our section (in addition to LRW)?gladiator wrote:Well all classes are the same timeslots so you'll know when your classes are but professors are set by section so you won't know them until sections are announced which is unfortunately only the Thurs or Fri before orientation.

There aren't 12 separate CivPro sections; there are 7. I just meant those 3 professors will be teaching 7 of the 12 sections. CivPro will be the small section class for 3 sections.jdn012 wrote:wow, that's really late. Collins will be teaching 3 at the same time, Mitchell 2, and Nelson 2. So if you get Collins, you'll be in a ~90 person class for CivPro.

Update: Contracts 8:30-9:50 class
So, Contracts, Crim or Torts, Crim or Torts, CivPro will be the order...should be revealed within the hour.
In a very weird turn of events for you guys, Kraus and Leslie aren't teaching Contracts this fall.

In the case of Kraus, we're getting spared UVA's most notorious cold-caller. I'm relieved, but a bit disappointed we won't have that challenge.a.williams wrote:Is that a good thing or a bad thing?gladiator wrote:Update: Contracts 8:30-9:50 class

Some of both. Kraus is a tough cold caller but most people who have him love him and he taught a 90 person class last fall.a.williams wrote:Is that a good thing or a bad thing?gladiator wrote:Update: Contracts 8:30-9:50 class

Are there any other profs teaching the 1L courses that are known for being tough cold-callers?gladiator wrote:Some of both. Re: UVA Class of 2012
Since I didn't have most of these professors it'd be purely on word of mouth so Kraus is the only one I can think of that is especially known for it. I think Abraham (Torts) maybe was. Barzun, my Torts professor, wasn't mean but did tend to grill you on facts more than we all thought was necessary. Mitchell, my CivPro professor, could be tough but it tended to vary and while he might berate you, he's not serious when he does. Kordana didn't cold call at all and Harmon wasn't that bad but would literally stand over students and force them to read out of the text when they were too dumb to answer easy questions.JSUVA2012 wrote:Are there any other profs teaching the 1L courses that are known for being tough cold-callers?
Most likely your PAs will give you a primer on your professors during orientation.

Is it weird to hope you get a tough cold-caller? I was/am looking forward to the challenge. I figure law school wouldn't be law school unless I find out (or am told) how dumb I am.

Guess it depends what type of person you are. I hate getting cold called for fear of public speaking/the blow to my ego.JSUVA2012 wrote:Is it weird to hope you get a tough cold-caller? Also, I've been told Kraus is gone because he's a visiting professor at Michigan this coming year.

Contracts is actually a pretty good class for 8:30. Waking up for Torts or CivPro seems much worse to me.

I really don't know how class schedules work. Does this mean that some people will have a 3:40-5 PM class on Friday? If so, that would really stink. As much as I dislike early morning classes, I find Friday afternoon classes to be much worse.A partially completed Fall class schedule is now up on SIS. Re: UVA Class of 2012
Different people have different tastes but I think you'll find Contracts isn't as bad as it sounds. I assume which professor you get will play a role but I remember before school started thinking Contracts would be the worst and it was pretty interesting.
None of the CivPro sections will meet on Fridays so no 1Ls will have class Fri 3:40-5. All of them meet Mon, Wed, Thurs 3:40-5:00 or Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs 3:40-4:40 according to the schedule.I really don't know how class schedules work. Re: UVA Class of 2012
Crim has been set at 10 AM so your schedule will be approximately:
Contracts 8:30-9:50
CrimLaw 10:00-11:20
Torts 2:10-3:30
CivPro: 3:40-5:00
LRW: Thrown in somewhere once a week
Typically your classes will meet 3 times/week but Crim could be 2 and the others could be 4.
