JAG just posted a Michigan thread, and since Michigan is the worst school in the Big 10, (neck and neck with Ohio State) I thought I'd start a NU class of 2012 thread. If you've deferred like myself or are applying/been accepted, start posting!

pssh Michigan>>Ohio State. No contest. Unless football enters the equation. Because...um ouch. Ugh Michigan has sucked this year.

I didn't realize you had deferred too. What are you doing this year?

Hah... Going to be a tough call for me. UMich and NU are probably my top 2 choices right now. I think its going to come down to a coin flip and which school opts to give moe some $$$$. Maybe I'll post this exact same thread in the Mich2012 Section.

If you're an auto admit.. meaning 2+ yrs of WE and GPA 3.5+ and LSAT 170+ then I don't think it will make that big of a difference. If you're numbers aren't auto admit, I would def call, email, and maybe write a letter explaining to the dean your situation. This will show a lot, and I think would be appreciated way more than a couple of hundred dollar train ride for a 15min interview.

Umm... pretty sure a 3.5 and 168 is not an auto-admit.

yeah exactly what i was thinkin - the medians are 3.7/170 - if they started auto-admitting at 3.5/168 those medians wouldn't hold up for long

Can you do a telephone interview?
Frank wrote:Anyone know how necessary the interview is? They sent me a fee waiver, but the interview location is only in the capital city of the country I'm in, and I'm really far south from this city....it would cost hundreds of dollars, which I simply don't have, to get up there.

You're ignoring NU's penchant for splitters ahh well, call it 3.8 171 as an autoadmit... I didn't have lunch today... and The numbers I studied a cycle and two cycles ago, have improved significantly... please ignore my gaffe. TITCR

im 3.86, 171, and i have my one year of work experience (well, doing the one year now)...are those numbers good enough?

You should feel fairly comfortable with your chances... Don't know about money though but I wouldn't be suprised given your GPA that is most likely pleasing to Adcomms' eyes.

Actually, they prefer 2 years of WE by the time you enter. Will you have that? And I think the quality of your WE will also be important - what was your job? NU is huge on professional experience.

Don't let your perceived "quality" or lack thereof in your job position prevent you from applying. NU's class of 2011 was quite diverse and I doubt that it isn't indicative of whate they are looking for. While it is true that a majority of their candidates come from "accomplished" backgrounds, NU does not discriminate in the nature of their desired WE experience, they view it as the opportunity to mature and learn in a "real world" setting and they believe this in turn makes one better prepared to be a lawyer in today's world.

For someone with a 174, you have shockingly poor reading comprehension. ;)

(That or they went and moved the school to the capital city of the country he's in. Or they made Chicago the capital of his country. Either way, someone really should've let me know).

If you call the admissions office, I'm sure they'll do their best to get you interviewed. If it's just not possible to interview, but you've really made an effort despite, I'm sure that will be taken into account.

Going to Northwestern. I am looking for friends and a possible roommate. I would like to live close to the school, near Michigan Ave.
