no, i said park a couple blocks away for free. i was referring to street parking in the Red Circle area above. there's no parking lot for free.spencer26 wrote:Sorry about State Street, I get so turned around in Michigan in terms of directions. I am used to mountains. But, someone on this thread, I believe it was Merriweather...?, said that a lot of Lawyers' Club residents will park in a parking lot a couple blocks away for free.

I know that Orientation training is Sunday, August 23rd, and I believe the day that you do everything is on that Thursday.

Re: Michigan 2012
Hi - just wondering about 1L classes: are there any particular class topics (torts etc) that will absolutely be a part of a 1L fall starter's schedule? Is the fall starter schedule strictly 3 graded classes and one writing pass/fail class?
Thank you
Thank you

The schedule is up on the UM website. I also posted the breakdown by section a few pages back, if you want to look for it.suchandsuch wrote:Hi - just wondering about 1L classes: are there any particular class topics (torts etc) that will absolutely be a part of a 1L fall starter's schedule? All fall starters have torts, and we all don't have con law until winter semester.
And yes, 3 classes plus legal writing

We need a secret sign so that I can figure out if any of you are in my orientation group (not that I know what section I have yet).

Re: Michigan 2012
Hey, quick question - I'm filling out my Master Promissory Note for the next semester, has anyone done this? I took out some Stafford Loans during my undergrad, and I never had to do this. We can still choose to Accept/Decline our Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans for next year AFTER we fill this out and sign it, right?
Thanks
Thanks

On the topic of MAP: what do we wear? If it was orientation I'd probably go casual (jeans & sneakers), but the schedule makes it sound similar to a corporate training thing. Should I wear business-casual work clothes, like khakis + polo?tl wrote:For any '12-ers doing MAP, please feel free to join the Facebook group. It's "Michigan Law School Map 2012."

For MAP I think people dressed up a bit for the kickoff dinner at the hotel but that was about it. I don't remember ever dressing up for anything else.

I would dress up for the kick-off dinner, and by dressing up, I mean business-casual work clothes. Maybe a smidge fancier if you're really feeling yourself that day, but otherwise don't bother going all out. All other days -- feel free to be as bummy as you like. No one will notice.Aeroplane wrote:On the topic of MAP: what do we wear? Thanks guys. I'll have to dig up my "nicer" clothes. Ever since I gave my notice at work I've been wearing jeans every day

So it's Wednesday, and I decided to not be lazy and get on LiveNation to buy some Blink tickets. Appears they're not selling lawn tickets now. Could they actually be sold out? This is not cool.

So, if we're NOT going with the GradPLUS loan, do we just need to pay Michigan before the start of the semester? I went on Wolverine Access but couldn't find A. a date by which we need to pay fall tuition and B. how to pay (where to send money to, etc.)

There is a deadline or you can make payments. It's up to you. The deadline is usually after add/drop if I recall.USC2009 wrote:So, if we're NOT going with the GradPLUS loan, do we just need to pay Michigan before the start of the semester? Another fin. aid qstn: How are schollys and stafford loans disbursed, do we get a lump sum at the beginning of fall, or are they split between semesters?

It's split 50/50, unless you're a summer starter, then something like 30/35/35.hdg315 wrote:Another fin. aid qstn: How are schollys and stafford loans disbursed, do we get a lump sum at the beginning of fall, or are they split between semesters?

If you're not taking loans at all, then you might be interested in that "payment plan" that lets you pay in installments over the year. Or you can just call the Registrar and ask where to send the check. I'm sure they won't have a problem helping you to give them $23,000.USC2009 wrote:So, if we're NOT going with the GradPLUS loan, do we just need to pay Michigan before the start of the semester?
