I think "University of the Pacific" is kind of a presumptuous name. The whole Pacific? Really? Ballsy.

I literally laughed out loud when this waiver came in my email today... But really, is it just me, or are others on this board slightly offended by these ridiculous fee waivers. I feel like I'm being patronized.

I think it's odd.

They mention my stats in them, so unless they have a program that automatically finds my scores and inserts them, they have someone doing research.

My number certainly aren't T14, but I think I have a legit shot at T30, certainly T50.

Why the hell would I want to go to some no-name school? It seems like a complete waste of time.

When I read "university of the pacific," I thought of a school on a sandy tropical island surrounded by a clear blue sea with neon fish and palm tress.....

..... then I visited the website and saw that it's in sacramento. Disgusting.

Hey, it's even worse for undergrad. The main campus is in Stockton. Sacramento is a paradise compared to Stockton, although it is admittedly no closer to the actual Pacific Ocean.

As for all of you mocking the law school, lighten up. It's usually ranked between 90 and 100 in the USN rankings and, if you want to practice law in Sacramento, it's your best bet if you can't get into UCD.

I love the elitist attitude held by so many on this board. While it is no HYS, it is also a far cry from a Cooley. There is a place for any school in the top 100, just as there is a desire for many to attend any school of their choosing. Yes, my numbers keep me from attending school with many of the elitists on here and I do not necessarily find that a bad thing. Any school that is ABA certified and not provisional or on probation is fine with me. There are many more factors to consider when choosing which school to attend. I do not walk around expecting to work in Big Law nor do I expect to blow my nose with $100 bills. I only hope to make my mark and take care of my family.

The school may not be the best choice for biglaw hopefuls. However, as mentioned, it places well in Sacramento area, has a very active and large alumni network and the CDO actually works. Unlike similar ranked schools there is not a forced curve (the average gpa is posted per prof and most range in the 2.8 -3.0 mark), the academic environment is pleasant and far from cutthroat. Many of the tenured Prof's are authors of the Lexis understanding series(Sprankling and Levine come to mind) or casebooks and have strong academic and organizational ties. Additionally, Justice Kennedy was a tenured professor and continues his support. He has already visited the campus once this fall and held a free lecture for the student body. Difficult to say that it is a crap school if you have a SCOTUS judge showing up once or twice a year.

Again, I am not saying McGeorge DOMINATES ( a joke that should have died long ago ) but depending on what you want to do, it still provides a solid education and has a decent support network.

Technically, it is a top law school...top 100.

I hear the University of the Pacific has a beautiful campus... just read it somewhere.

I live in sac and my best friends gf goes to Mcgeorge and he pretty much lives there with her so we study for the lsat together either in the Mcgeorge library or her dorm.

Mcgeorge is a good school if you want to work in sac and cant go to davis and arent in the running for T1 schools...all said before.....

But one thing I must let everyone know before they even consider the school is that the campus is located in the worst part of sacramento and isn't really blocked off or anything....it's just in the ghetto and there is absolutely nothing beatiful about the school...

EDIT: the actual UOP campus in stockton is ranked in the top 5 most beautiful campus' in the country...according to some rankings i saw on the news recently...and it is actually really nice

I was surprised to find that one of the lawyers at my law firm went to this school. She certainly dominates - she's the head of a very well established mass torts department.

But someone has to plug the right numbers into the emails, and also do the searching.

I'm imagine they can compile their fee waiver list and send off the emails in less time than it took you to respond to my post; it's likely a matter of three or four mouse clicks.

Hmm, this seems to have upset you.

And I doubt it's that easy...they have to plug individual numbers into the specific emails. It seems like a waste of time to me, much like your oddly defensive arguments.
