So i just took my 1st practice LSAT and scored a low, very low 127. Just wondering if any one else has ever scored this low on their first LSAT but still had some LSAT success in the end!? Thanks in advance. Oh yea this is my first post ever on TLS, so hello to everyone!

I Look forward to hearing your responses.

Oh dear. You might want to prepare yourself for snarky responses.
I think you should take another test. It is possible you scored that low. It's also possible you misbubbled or just turned your brain off on one section.
Take another test tomorrow and see how it goes. If you're still scoring in the 120s, then worry about it.

No you don't. And if you truly scored a 127, who did you have help you type this post?

You know you're supposed to do all four sections, right?
Sorry, just messin' with you. Which practice test was it, out of curiosity?

Ok, that's a pretty low score to start but you can definitely improve A LOT. The LSAT is a beatable test.. well, relatively. Did you buy the powerscore books? Maybe think about investing in a class. I think it's definitely possible for you to get into the low 150s with A LOT of practice.

I won't lie, 127 is pretty low. I don't know when you are planning to take the LSAT but my suggestion is to take another practice test within the next couple of days. Now that you know how the test is set up and what the time limit is like for each section, you know what to expect and will hopefully do better right there. After that I would definitely start studying either independently (only recommend if you are HIGHLY motivated), or sign up for a class. You'll definitely want to continue taking as many practice tests as possible to improve your time and familiarity with the LSAT. I'm sure you can bring it up but it will take a lot of work. You might want to start looking at what schools you are hoping to get into and what scores are necessary for acceptance, so you can see how much you will need to improve your score and whether or not you feel that is realistic. Good luck to you!

youpiiz wrote:this is very interesting. i recall reading a good number of threads where people were relatively encouraging towards ops who had scored in their 140s for the diagnostic.
you guys really think a 127 diag and a 14x diag is that diff?
aside from whether this thread is flame or not, id like to hear what you guys think about this.
When I first read this, I pulled out a PT I have sitting right here and looked up the raw score for a 127 on this test (52). On this particular test, the raw score that would get you a 127 was 22. So, 22 correct answers out of 100 questions. To get a 141 on this same test, your raw score would be 41 or 42 correct. I see that as a huge difference. I don't think it is impossible to improve to a "doable" score, but it is going to require much more than just self-study, I would say.

OP, welcome to TLS. We all started out testing low and through study and the constant warmth and support on this board, we were able to get higher scores. I myself went from a 123 to a 176. We're all here for you. You can do it!

Is that part in bold true? If so, mad props, and you have dispelled my doubt. If not, you're just a truly evil person.

And I went from 120 to 180. True story.

I need to point out that this mean that the OP only got 2 more correct than would be expected if he randomly guessed or chose the same letter throughout the test.

Like little Johnny Appleseed, I would not tell a lie. P.S. I have acquired 1337 post at this moment. This is truly a blessed day.

Self study won't do it. OP is going to require a brain transplant.

RAD! I know it's gonna be tough, but you're going to have to post again eventually. Savor the moment.

Oh snap!
I knew someone would pull out the brain transplant line. I just didn't think it would be you, Rayiner. You have become meaner. I blame Cleareyes for this. He has spoiled you with his flattery.

Oh, for heaven's sakes.
OP should probably take another PT or two to see if this 120s or low 130s business sticks. If it does, then a class of some kind - Testmasters, PowerScore, Blueprint, etc. - is porbably in order. Scoring in that range initially suggests, to me anyway, that the problem is less with raw abaility than familiarity with the test.

Actually I improved my score due to constant harassment and belittlement from posters on this board. I was humiliated into studying my ass off for a decent score.
