I anticipate that once co-workers are informed, I will experience some backlash / jealousy ... I really cannot make the announcement until the last possible day.cmaho9qy wrote:Is it just me, or do coworkers get exponentially more obnoxious with the approaching last day of work?

2, there is probably some administrative burden the cost of which overweighs the savings gained from firing you a month or two out from you quitting.
(i'm in this same position and milking it like crazy)

Agreed. If they knew that of my intentions to attend law school in the fall, it would actually be more expensive for them to fire me than it would be for me to sit in the office with my feet on the desk for two months.leron wrote:1, they'd have to have a case to fire you.

As much as my actual job sucks, my bosses/co-workers are probably among the nicest people on the planet. They love me too much too fire me, so whenever I'm being particularly useless/bitchy they're just like "Oh, you're so silly, IHeart!" I've pretty much got a free pass for the next few months to say and do whatever I want. In that sense at least I'm extremely lucky.thefossilcrew wrote:anybody worried about getting fired early once the boss knows about law school?

I've always been one of the top producers on my team so I just cut it down to the minimum amount that I think I can get away with. Which is still probably more than what most of my co-workers do.
Anyone else trying to use all their sick time before they leave? lol.

Which states aren't at will?thefossilcrew wrote:I hear you... but Georgia is an at-will employment state, so they can fire me for anything. I think that they would be pissed if they find out (like I was lying to them or something).

I also have at-will employment, but as a part of my contract, so long as I am not fired for "misconduct," I am entitled to 4 months of severance pay.pomona wrote:Which states aren't at will?thefossilcrew wrote:I hear you... but Georgia is an at-will employment state, so they can fire me for anything. penni_rose wrote:Yeah, I just checked my employment contract. It's at will. They can fire me the second they hear, thus, I'm not telling until I'm ready to leave. Of course, if they checked my internet history, they would already know.
Haha if they checked my internet history I would be SOL & maybe imprisoned, or at least sued for "time theft".

Which makes feel bad in the times that I'm fuming angry because I'm so anxious to leave
