i can't believe they held a 4.7. Columbia just scares me with this unpredictable cycle of theirs.

I got a Hamilton offer with a 4.6 index a couple of weeks ago.hopeful09 wrote:Got the hold letter with a 4.7 index. Might have something to do with it...
I had my app sent in before December.

My hold letter was dated February 13th, and my application was complete by late November. Hope that clears it up for some of you.

Due to a mistake on their end, I just went complete like 5 days ago. I get the feeling I'm going to be waiting a long time.

Re: Columbia Applicants Waiting Thread
For us early decision deferred applicants, when do you think we'll be hearing from them? (They said they'll reevaluate us after March 1st)
Is it reasonable to expect a response by April 15th?
I was invited to apply for UPenn's Levy Scholarship, which I think i've got a good shot at, and their deadline to accept and withdraw applications from all other schools if offered this scholarship is April 15th.
Columbia is my first choice and it would so painful to not have a decision from them by April 15th...

My index is 4.7. I was held. I have had a much rougher cycle than I expected. Studied very hard for the lsat and did very well. Good gpa. I believe my ps was very good as well; it cannot have hindered me, in my opinion. My lack of a traditional academic/career path has seemingly hurt me significantly.

so how much additional information would be overkill? i'm going all out with this one - thinking about an extra rec from my thesis advisor, fulbright finalist update, killer loci, and maybe a box of chocolates just for the hell of it.

That, and all the other held-despite-excellent-numbers are heartbreaking.el guapo wrote:My index is 4.7. I was held. I have had a much rougher cycle than I expected. If a 4.7 is getting held, what chance does a 4.3 have? *tear*

I'm a 4.3 and I was admitted, so you have a chance...daisyduck wrote:That, and all the other held-despite-excellent-numbers are heartbreaking.el guapo wrote:My index is 4.7. I was held. 4.4 index/black male
WL'd at Columbia. Well, "reserve." They begin deliberations at the end of May.
Whatever. No one likes you anyway, CLS.
