If you're going to do this, then the LSAT distribution would be more useful. Even better would be to get both. Only problem is that people have to out themselves by posting schools. Some might PM them to you though.

Ken: Seems like you could add some pretty unique information to the site if you let people submit the GPA/LSAT distributions from different colleges to you and then collected and posted them. People might trust you or a mod not to out them, where they might not feel good about giving up their school to a random forum member. Not sure if LSAC has some kind of interest in the data that would prevent you from posting it though. If nothing else, it would provide a huge amount of fuel for the endless "does undergrad matter" debate.

I don't care much about outing myself at this point, my PS has been thrown around these boards enough... that and I've moved up a bracket since finals... w00t

HaHa well Im almost embarrassed to state the school! But it was Empire State College, the only reason I went there even though I had much better options was because my husband was in the Army and stationed in the middle of nowhere, and it was the only school in the area.

This is just showing that schools like UCLA and Penn inflate their grades just a tad (Highest percentage of students between 3.6-3.79, really? REALLY?) So while it may not matter where you went to undergrad to the adcomms, if you're positive you want to go to law school you may be better suited choosing an undergrad that inflates grades ridiculously (like most Ivy's or top rated schools) or go somewhere with much less prestige, that costs less, has a higher quality of life and puts you up against a bunch of less qualified competition. Because it's been proven time and time again, your 3.9 from ABC State University is worth a hell of a lot more than a 3.3-3.4 from some school ranked between 5-30 on the US News World Report rankings.

Didn't Spider Man go to Columbia?

I was actually surprised at how low the GPA distribution is from my school. I expected some of these other schools mentioned to be a LOT more competitive GPA-wise than my school too.

Confusing.
“The University at the end [where Banner meets with Samuel Sterns] is Columbia University. Columbia University in the Marvel world, especially in the ‘Spider Man’ world, is Empire State University,” the director explained. “I wanted some kind of shot where you’re like, ‘Oh my god. Is that Peter Parker?’ That would have been fun!”

Unfortunately for Leterrier, crossovers begin and end with the properties Marvel has total control of – no matter how hard you ask. And “Spider-Man” all its many names, places, and stories therein, belong to Sony. But while he quickly realized that he wouldn’t be able to get Tobey Maguire (no matter how much he wanted to), Leterrier thought a compromise could be reached. No dice, he sighed.

“I just wanted to call it Empire University – to treat it like a coherent world,” he recalled. “And Sony, who has the rights to Spidey, didn’t want us to do that. It was a small thing but something we couldn’t do.”
Anyway, it was fun to watch Spider Man film on our campus. It's was funny to see Willem Dafoe walk in and out of the same car as they did take after take.

Penn definitely has a lot of grade inflation, but it depends on what department you are in. I'm majoring in a hard science where the curve is to a B-/C+, so the overall grade distribution is not very representative of the students in my major. This makes the grade inflation that occurs at Penn quite frustrating to me...what represents a decent GPA in my major may seem quite low to adcomms when they look at the overall GPA distribution.

Shrug, no thoughts on the grade inflation suggestions, but I think we have to keep in mind that the GPA percentiles reflect law school applicants - a self-selecting group, to be sure.

Started college at 17, couldn't move for family reasons, so went to closest 4 year university and did not apply anywhere else despite 95% SAT.

This was before USF even had a football team.

Now, these are only for the people registered for LSAC (right?); so you're going to have an inflationary bias in the data. But isn't it possible that certain schools would have a greater inflationary bias than others? After all, a 2.8 student from a low-ranked school may not bother applying to law school at all while a 2.8 from Harvard might. Just a thought.

Not going to post either the GPA or LSAT % distribution but I will say that my UG's median GPA for law school applicants is 3.31 and my personal UG and LSDAS GPA is a 3.88.... 3.31 is a bit inflated but is a 3.88 a 3.88 a 3.88???
