What was your undergraduate major? Your undergraduate major could have a big impact on your income as an attorney. If you majored in economics, finance, or math you will likely earn more than other attorneys. If you majored in humanities you will likely double the income you would have made without a law degree. Do you agree with this study?

In case there are 0Ls reading this and getting worried: your undergraduate major will not limit your earning potential. Law firms hiring during OCI season hire based on (1) the law school you go to, and (2) the grades you have at that law school. If you go to a good enough law school and get good enough grades, you are essentially guaranteed a 190K starting salary (base), regardless of what your undergraduate school/major were.

If there was a study on this, I'm guessing it likely confused correlation with causation.

For patent law, an undergraduate science or engineering degree will likely boost employment prospects and perhaps even get a modest signing bonus.
