Top Law Schools

For my top choice, I was deferred to regular cycle, and I am currently under review at my second choice. Neither schools have gotten back to me. They claimed they would have a response by late April. At this point I'm assuming I'm waitlisted (at best) for both. I have an imminent deadline at a different school to accept admittance and a scholarship. Should I call my top choices? And say what? Ask if they have an update for me yet? I am not sure if it is insensitive with covid to call, assuming they are currently inundated...
If anyone has any insights, it would be super helpful!!

It'd probably be a smarter move to ask the school with the impending deadline to extend.
