Can a foreign JD holder get admission to a US JD program ?

I have researched a bunch of schools and it seems like foreigners can get U.S. JD or a LLM. I wanted to know thoughts on 1st US JD (2nd law degree since foreigner would have a first degree) from TLS folks .

I don't know the specifics, but at Iowa we had at least a dozen students with foreign law degrees. As far as I know, they were there for LLM programs only. They paid full tuition. Only one of them found work in the US as an attorney, the others I believe had to go home due to their visa status. May not answer your question, is there something more specific you wanted to know?

it's quite unusual to have a J.D. from another country and then to get a J.D. in the U.S.
It's far more common to just get an LLM in American Jurisprudence, which will allow you to practice in a handful of states.
On the other hand, if you have an LLB, you can jump into a U.S. JD program. But again, several states won't accept that
