Summer is around the corner and i'm wondering how would I be able to shadow a lawyer-basically be an intern without being in law school. Most law firms I've looked at requires a person to be in law school. Do I just call law firms in my area and ask if any lawyer would be okay with me shadowing them?

For client confidentiality reasons, you wouldn't just be able to shadow somebody at a firm without going through some formal program. There's plenty of internship opportunities at large firms for college students you can apply for.

Yeah, there's a difference between the intern positions offered to law students and the positions available to college students/grads, which are usually going to be office support staff. You'll still get the chance to interact with the attorneys and see them work, but as mentioned, there are rules that prevent you from just "shadowing" an attorney.
