I've read that LSAT is important mostly bc rankings. If schools report their 25-50-75 prcentiles, why does it matter to get a score above 75% if it will not change reported data?
For example, Columbia 75% LSAT is 173. Will every LSAT above 174 be considered the same in terms of strenghth by Columbia and if no, why? As scores above 174 will not change reported data to ranking agencies.

I'm asking bc trying to get 175+ takes a lot of time and effort and mb it's not worth it.

First get a 170+, then figure out whether you're in a position to decide whether squeezing out the extra five points is worth it.

But yes, the difference between a 3.9/173 and a 3.9/175 at Columbia is that the latter is probably getting a full ride scholarship. Around 173, you start to see diminishing returns on increasing your LSAT score, but since only 1% of test takers ever hit that point, don't assume that it's relevant to you.
