Top Law Schools

I'm not sure if this is the proper place but not sure who I could ask.

I went to a T14 school and finished my 1L with top 25% grades but took a leave of absence after that for a year and came back for another half semester and decided to drop out.

This was around 6 years ago. I dropped out in good standing.

I was hoping to come back to law school but wasn't sure if I would have to reapply and redo my 1L since it's been so long. I honestly wouldn't mind this as I think my original LSAT was suboptimal and if I retook it I could get into a better school as my T14 was on the lower end.

I dropped out due to personal reasons which have now been taken care of.

Would anyone have any advice? Thanks.

From what I remember from an earlier post, once you get grades that is what they go by. So retaking the LSAT may be a moot point. However, since you already have decent grades and left in good standing, you should not have too much trouble transferring or going back to your old school. I would at least speak with your dean or the admissions office of your prospective schools and see what they say.

I think you should focus on writing a good written explanation of your personal reasons that would convince a school to take a chance on you.
