Top Law Schools

Hey everyone. I have read on here that you are better off going to your state school than a top 50 for employment reasons. I only have 1 state school and it is ranked top 45-55. If I were to get into a top 25 school, would I be better off going there if I didn't get into my state school for whatever reason?

Insufficient information. Need to know the specific law schools, COA for each & where & what type of law you want to practice.

You are better off going to the best law school you can get into generally--even despite the cost difference. Law firms, clients and other generally expect that attorneys go to the best law school they got into. The more prestigious the law school (and the better you do there) the more opportunities you will have to work in large law firm, get clerkships, go into prestigious government positions and so forth later on. Law schools are extremely important to employers. That said, if you want to work in the area you attend school and do extremely well in law school (which no one can predict), the law school you went to will not matter as much.

Despite what people with a financial interest may tell you, you should absolutely take cost into account. Seems obvious but just in case

Oh hi Harrison. This is the owner of this website, guys! But just FYI this advice is dumb and not true. If you were comparing a t13 vs a t50, then yes it is worth more money (although not sticker bc if you retake the lsat you can get scholarship $$$).

To help, we NEED to know the exact schools you are considering so we can compare the employment data and help you make an informed decision. Some schools in the t50 might have a higher ranking but WORSE employment prospects than the one ranked #55 for example.

This is not wise counsel. Cost should definitely be a part of the equation so you don't end up paying back student loans until your 83. Search the Student Loan thread in this forum before you take this advice and read through it carefully to find out how debt impacts your life, even as a Biglaw associate.

Top 25-50 school is a garbage most of the time, and getting a good paying job is difficult.

We need more info. Such as scholarships, tuition costs, Cost of living and etc. Where Top 25-50 is located? It needs to be in state where OP wants to practice.
