Top Law Schools

I have a 3.4 with a 156 LSAT and was wondering what the chances are of getting a full ride to Howard University are? And the chances of getting in to OSU and Emory.

Getting a full ride at any given law school is hard to predict, especially since there's not as much data available for lower-ranked schools. You're in Howard's top quartile for LSAT and their second quartile for GPA, so a full-tuition scholarship is realistic but not a sure thing by any stretch. They only offer a tiny number of full rides - 1 or 2 a year, according to their 509 report. Another 20-30 people get biggish scholarships but you'd still be spending $100k or so with one of those once cost of living is taken into account.

Emory is probably a hard no with those numbers. Ohio State, even with a little scholarship money, is pretty likely if you're an under-represented minority and an extreme longshot otherwise.

You could greatly improve your chances at all of these with a substantially higher LSAT score.

What do you want to do with a law degree? The three schools you've mentioned create wildly different opportunities for their graduates.

A friend of mine is actually currently studying at Emory with a 152 LSAT so I'll have to disagree with the hard no. But I have several different ideas for my law degree but I've narrowed my top three choices down to these schools.

IceChicken's spot on! Like he said, it's "probably" a hard no for Emory (did your friend have a super high GPA to offset low GPA? incredible softs?)

Great chances at Howard. Not a whole lot of data on their scholarships but like Chicken said very few people get full rides each year.

In addition to what was already said, this is a red flag. It's fine to not have your future career path set in stone before law school, but your "different ideas" would have to run the gamut from working for the government in Ohio to gunning for biglaw in Atlanta. So what are your current ideas of what you want to do with a JD?

What was your friend's undergraduate GPA?
