Columbia for negotiation purposes?

Hi all, I have a quick question: it's unlikely for me to be admitted in CLS, but I might have a shot (172 LSAT + international, with an academic red flag they won't like). I'm cheap and I don't want to waste those $120 to apply. Moreover, I'll never get enough scholly to attend. I might be very lucky and got in with some $50-$70k, based on mylsn.
However, since I'm applying broadly to t20s except for Yale, Chicago and Berkeley, Columbia is one of the highest ranked schools in my list, the highest after H and S - which as we know aren't likely for almost anyone.
So, should I apply to CLS anyway to use an hypothetical (unlikely) admission(+scholly) as leverege with other schools (especially t10)? Or it is not a single admission which would change my negotiation power?

Thanks!

I almost always think the extra money to apply across the t13 is worth the potential leverage, especially when you have a less than predictable cycle, which it looks like you will. If you think you have a shot at getting admitted, I would go for it.

Didn't work for me, but it could for you. Just splash out 120.

I'm still doubtful guys, I could really use to save those $120... But thank you for the suggestions!

Hi fellow international applicant!

Columbia as far as I know sent waivers based on your LSAT scores, and yours is well within its range. I've heard of cases where qualified people like you did not receive the first-wave waivers, but it won't hurt to shoot the adcom another email :)
