Top Law Schools

For most of my applications, the only disclosures I will have to make are a driving under suspension charge (from an expired tag, charge ultimately dropped), and a careless and reckless driving ticket (also dropped). The C&R resulted from an incident where I sent a sedan airborne. Is it necessary for that ticket (now half a lifetime ago, as I'm a non-traditional applicant) to be Joe Friday procedural and dull, or is it okay to give enough of the details to raise a smirk? Will entertaining writing (without hiding the facts or my responsibility for the matter) in a disclosure like that be a negative, neutral, or a positive?

Don't get cute. Give them the facts, how it was disposed, and how you've learned to be more careful after such careless and reckless behavior considering you haven't had any incidents since.

A few schools (Columbia, Cornell, Emory) ask for ANY citations that aren't parking tickets.

C&R is a misdemeanor, or at least the officer told teenaged me that it was. And I parse C&R and DUS to be more than "minor" traffic violations. Some schools don't require disclosure of those incidents, some want every darned speeding ticket ever (and I'll have to guess, since I can no longer see my early driving record, and didn't meticulously record every time I paid a parking ticket just in case I decided to apply to law school later).

Don't try to be cute. Be straightforward. You are applying to a professional school that wants you to be straightforward when it evaluates whether you are bar eligible.
