Canadian; LSDAS 3.9; LSAT 170...HYS Chances?

Hey guys, this is my first post and I haven't been able to find a lot of info for Canadian applicants to U.S law schools.

Does anyone know how if I have a shot at HYS (specifically H) with an LSAT 170 and LSDAS 3.9 GPA.
If I were a U.S. applicant, how would my chances be? I'm worried my LSAT might be a point or two too low. Also, not a visible minority or anything like that.

Thank you!!!

It'll be quite a bit higher, I'd imagine. OLSAS, A+ = 4.00, A = 3.90 and so on. OP I'm jealous.

I imagine it's the same chances as US Applicants since the GPA is numerical and not international.
You have a shot at HYS, but the odds are not in your favor. I'd definitely apply though (and retake if you feel you can improve).

Be sure to blanket the T14. You should get good money.

Awesome thanks, thats good to know.

I'm going to apply to Harvard, Yale, NYU, and Columbia. If I were to leave Canada, it would most likely have to be Harvard or Yale, or NYU/ Columbia with some decent $$$. Of course, this is assuming that THE DONALD doesn't ban Canadians or something during his next temper tantrum.

I'm taking the June LSAT so hopefully I can bump that up a point or two to help myself a bit more.

So I can mayyyybe see leaving for HY, but if your goal is a Canadian firm, just go to U of T or Osgoode. H and Y do carry a lot of weight in getting prestigious gigs in Canada, but although they are well known, NYU or Columbia, won't really help that much because they aren't built to funnel people into those jobs. They will also be very, very expensive compared to Canadian schools, even with $$$. The CDN $ is like 73 cents US right now, and while that may change, it's worth looking up the NYC COL and translating into CDN $ terms to compare to your Canadian options. NYU estimates about 30K cost of living (which, lol ok nyu) and that's 40K per year in CDN$. Not saying don't apply, but keep that in mind.

If you want to work in the states though, you do need to apply much more broadly--since debt financing is really difficult for nonresidents, a scholarship that comes with a stipend would be the best outcome.

In the mean time, crush that retake.
Yea you are spot on with this. COL in NY is ridiculous. I don't think I could say no to H if I were able to be admitted, but yea, for the other two, it would require a lot of scholarship $ to be feasible.

I'm cool with staying here in Canada, but living and working in NYC has been a dream/ goal of mine for a while now so I'm definitely going to be gunning for a killer LSAT.

Anyways, thanks for the replies my fellow random internet people, back to the igloo for me!

I mean you could really do any T13 for NYC employment.
Get fee waivers and apply to all of them.

Don't be an idiot. Apply to schools in the lower T14 and go there for free. Harvard is NOT worth sticker.. Say it with me now: Harvard is NOT worth sticker. Go to NU for free. It's literally a no-brainer.

If you want to work in NYC, blanket the t13 and take the money
