So, I'm typically a lurker but really wanted to seek advice on this. I'm wondering if I should get one of my law schools to try to up their need-based offer based on the need-based offer of another school. School 1 offered me a substantial grant, but I would still have to take out about 40,000 in loans. School 2 also offered me a much big grant and with that school I would take out 38,000 in loans. School 2 also has a lower family contribution amount, of about $2500. So in total I would be paying $4500 more for School 1, which is my first choice school. Do you think it's worth it to ask for more money from School 1 or does this difference not seem significant. Both offers were generous, School 2 was just more generous.

It would help if you'd tell us what schools we're dealing with here. Some schools have formulas they use for everyone, and they're not going to reconsider it. But that amount of money is close enough to essentially be identical. It's really not worth asking.
