My son is going to choose one-my question is will graduating from Georgetown make a marked difference in opportunities to get a job in Big Law?

Why are you bringing up Northwestern?BobBoblaw wrote:To answer your question, NW placed 62% of graduates into biglaw jobs last year, while WUSTL placed 28%, so less than half the rate.

Even if this is true, Georgetown could have improved its numbers too.UVA2B wrote: OP, if the rumors about WUSTL jumping up their Biglaw+Art. III clerkship rate to 44% are true, then there is a marginal difference in desirable outcomes between the two schools.
Substantially agree, but even if GULC improved to 50% for BL+Art. III, I'd call that a marginal difference. That's all just semantics that should mostly be ignored, because both our points are (mostly) the same. Cost is the real differentiator here, not simply likelihood of outcome.Rigo wrote:Even if this is true, Georgetown could have improved its numbers too.UVA2B wrote: OP, if the rumors about WUSTL jumping up their Biglaw+Art. All things equal, I'd to Georgetown. I do think there is some self-selection into PI/gov at Georgetown oo suppresses their Biglaw numbers a bit.
It really depends on the cost difference.

I hadn't realized that my son posted here and parents want as much information as possible when giving advice when their son/daughter are making a decision like this.
Thank you for your input- if cost is the only consideration, the cost of living is so high in D.C. so he would have to get substantially more in scholarship in order to justify choosing Georgetown. Thanks again!lmalone27 wrote:cavalier1138 wrote:If this isn't your son, then your son can probably read the thread for himself or join in there. Thank you- these posts are so helpful and as a parent I'd like as much information as possible.UVA2B wrote:Substantially agree, but even if GULC improved to 50% for BL+Art. I think this is a valuable opinion considering the source.PeanutsNJam wrote:Depends on cost. Georgetown is worth maybe $50k more total over 3 years. Keep in mind cost of living in stl is way lower than D.C.
Looks like your son was doing just fine on his own so far...lmalone27 wrote:Thank you- these posts are so helpful and as a parent I'd like as much information as possible.

Then...I think it's fair to say he can solicit his own advice on TLS (which he did).lmalone27 wrote:He always does!cavalier1138 wrote:Looks like your son was doing just fine on his own so far...lmalone27 wrote:Thank you- these posts are so helpful and as a parent I'd like as much information as possible.
