So NYU deferred me back in February and told me that I should hear back by late April. I just received an email inviting me to a reception for admitted students, but I have not received any emails yet. Is this just a mistake on their part or what?

Email from them: "I would like to cordially invite you to attend a reception for admitted women on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at 6:00 p.m..."

My response: "Cassandra, I think I received this in error. I wasn't admitted by NYU Law (and I am not a woman).

Thanks for the invitation, though. Luckily I am in good spirits despite that rather disappointing rejection letter, but other NYU Law rejects may not take this quite so well lol ;) "

Their response: "You received today an invitation from NYU Law to attend a reception to be held on April 6. This email was sent in error, and we regret that you will not be able to RSVP for this event. We apologize for any confusion."
