Stanford law full scholarship + full stipend

I havent seen this mentioned on the forums yet. Im posting it here as a PSA:
https://knight-hennessy.stanford.edu/program/funding

The scholarship isnt from the law school (which gives aid need-blind) but instead is out of a separate 750 million dollar endowment. 100 candidates are picked from across Stanford's grad programs. Its up in the air how many law students will get it.

The scholarship covers all tuition, full room and board, all school supplies and health insurance. It seems like there are other community and mentoring perks too.

Top applicants next cycle should consider tossing in an app.

Are you sure that law students are eligible? I know it's a graduate degree, but most things schools label as "graduate scholarships" don't apply to JD programs.

Went to an info-session for this at my school. From my understanding you can be awarded the scholarship and later denied from the Stanford program you applied to. Sounds odd.

Yes the law school is included as the website explicitly includes JD.

Should be noted that anyone matriculating in 2017 is ineligible.

There's a Malcolm Gladwell podcast on this exact program and how it's the most inefficient way you can possibly donate funds to higher education. If it is possible to get this for law school, I would be very surprised if it were given to anyone who wasn't explicitly pursuing academia and maybe had a rhode under their belt.

JDs are covered but until the acceptances start we wont know how many actually receive it. The website suggests that the program reaches out to departments to identify top talent in the applicant pool. It seems to focus more on leadership than on academia but in practice it may just be used to poach Yale-bound academic talent.
