Skype Help

I have a Skype interview scheduled for this Thursday (1/26) and have never used Skype before. I'm already running into some issues/questions while practicing with friends. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
1. My Skype ID, according to the school's instructions, is next to "Accounts" on my profile. Is it supposed to be my email address?
2. When I have friends/family try to search for me using that email address above, they say they can't find me. Why is that?
3. When friends/family add me, I don't receive a notification that I have an invitation pending or anything. I have to search for that person, and when I do find them, then the invitation appears in the conversation feed between us.
Audio and visual are working great, I'm just worried that the interviewer won't be able to find me and/or I won't be able to accept their invitation and call.
