Should I bother applying to T14 with 3.8, 164?

Post by corgiterrier17 » Tue Jan 03, 2017 9:26 pm

Hi

I have 3.8 gpa and 164 from December LSAT...Should I even bother applying to T14 schools?
I am a non URM and have average softs (no impressive awards/publications just 2-3 years of work experience).

You have an outside chance at Georgetown and Cornell, but you should be looking to retake. Even if you got in to one of those schools, you'd be paying sticker.

I'd pay a sticker if I have to...because I really want to start school this fall.
Do I have a chance at Berkeley, UVA, Michigan, and Northwestern?

You definitely have a shot at the Georgetown-Cornell-Northwestern tier. The real question is would you be content with that when your GPA could get you even further by waiting a little bit and getting a higher LSAT score.

Does future-you really want six figures of debt because present-day-you doesn't feel like retaking?

I am actually retaking in June. But I am also willing to attend any of the T14 schools if I get in this cycle even if I have to pay a sticker.
It's just that I am wondering if applying to those schools with my stats is waste of time and $.

It is not a waste of money to retake if it can get you scholarships, and you can take the year to work and save up.

These schools have been here for hundreds of years, what's the rush?

3 more points takes you from sticker price at Cornell to around a 100K scholarship to Cornell. use all those retakes!
