Is academic interest (something pertaining to law, of course) considered a valid topic for diversity statement?

I am not planning to write a diversity statement on academic interest: I just remembered a friend who applied to law schools years ago and was considering writing a diversity statement about his interest in early American legal history, and became curious.

Well, if you aren't planning on writing a statement on it, I'm not sure why you'd ask...

But no.

I wonder how many conservatives write diversity statements about being an oppressed minority
