Top Law Schools

I graduated a few years ago and had my son last year. I'm 23 w/ 3.5 UG GPA and 165 practice LSAT. I took it once and got a 149 (ugh I know)

I'm thinking of taking the Dec or Feb LSAT. My son is 11 months old right now; Any other parents out there studying right now?

You can do this. I'm a 1L; my wife and I have 5 kids together with our sixth due in January. It is hard, much harder than your peers will understand, and you'll have to make sacrifices. It can be done though if it's what you want. Good luck.

While you do not specify an age, you might want to take a look at the old school thread (for those of use over 30). As several posters in that thread also have children.

It is going pretty well. I actually love the school part of it. I actually think classes and studying are fun, so I may be a weirdo. I'm exhausted though. I've made a system where I work ahead all the time so that one night a week and weekends are completely homework free. That way I get everything done, but when I am with my family I give them 100%. It works pretty well, but I need to figure out some time for me too somewhere or I can see myself burning out.

It's hard for me to do LSAT with an 11 month old so HUGE props to you (and your wife) and congratulations on the little one! I was due in December of last year. I love classes and studying too, and I can't wait to get back into the groove of school. I will definitely keep working ahead in mind for the future - that is a very good idea. Good luck!

Hi OP, I'm under 30 too and mama to two beautiful daughters (age 3 and 1) and I took the LSAT after I had my second kid so I get ya. I am applying this cycle and have high hopes. I outperformed my practice test scores on test day so don't give up!

Hey, I'm in the same boat! I actually applied and got into UNC last cycle but deferred because I had a baby in February. He's 8 months old now and I'm 23 as well. My husband is in pharmacy school and everything seems to be going well now! It will probably be harder when we are both in school but I think it will be fine!

FWI I know plenty of people who had kids during studying and obviously during law school that have done fine. It obviously adds a degree of difficulty to things that someone without the piddles wouldn't have, but it's totally doable.

The 149 may well have been a fluke, the OP stated that she was had scored a 165 on a practice, assuming that this score was on reasonable test similar conditions, then taking a run at the exam in Dec may well be reasonable.

But I agree with rinkrat in that if you are not getting scores you are looking for on timed practice exams safely before the exam, then you are likely better off postponing your next exam until your are ready.

Hi! That's awesome what did you get on your LSAT? Between 8 and 11 months they definitely make some huge changes. but the lack of sleep stays the same unfortunately.

I studied for the June LSAT all spring and managed to do really well spending nap times and evenings studying and a string of about 6 Saturday mornings for test conditions practice tests. You can definitely do it! Good luck! I actually did better on the real test than my PT average, maybe because of kid interruptions during some of my practice tests.

I got a 164! I was actually really happy and surprised by it because I took the LSAT while pregnant and had morning sickness the whole test!
