Hi - I applied BU Binding early decision - this is the first year they're doing this. Wondering when you think we'll hear back/will it make a big boost in our chances to get in? is anyone else doing that? thanks!!

I'm wondering this too. I didn't apply this year but am considering applying binding ED next cycle. If you don't mind me asking, what were your stats, OP? And do you have any information as to the median LSAT and GPA that they accept will the full-tuition award? The sample size on mylsn is really small so it's hard to judge how accurate it is.

Well, it's too late now, but this was a bad decision.
There's no evidence that ED applications improve your chances of getting into law school. But there is strong evidence (and it makes logical sense) that an ED acceptance significantly impacts your ability to get scholarship offers. The only BU early-decision program anyone should consider using is the guaranteed full scholarship one. Anything else only hurts you.

I am not sure that is entirely true. This is a good recent article with statistical data showing that Early Decision positively affects your chances of admission at certain schools. It also shows that is does indeed hurt your chances at some schools. I am currently trying to figure out whether or not to apply ED to UVA Law. I know it would hurt scholarship offers, but I am a weak candidate for this school and the article shows that from the data, ED applications do improve your chances of gaining admission.

BU Bound is a new program they're doing - they have the Distinguished scholars - and this which is not for the full ride scholarship. I'm just looking to boost myself over the edge to get in... my stats are on the lower end -25th to 50th percentile - of their medians.

As long as you're comfortable paying sticker, go for it.

I know it's only been a little over two weeks since you submitted, but I was wondering if you heard anything from BU yet? Do they give you timeframe for how long a decision takes? For example, Emory ED says you'll receive a decision within 14 business days so I was wondering if BU posted a similar timeframe.
BU Bound is also something I am considering doing!
