Top Law Schools

I know most of you guys are debating between medical school and law school. I did well on the mcat and my gpa is good enough to get into med school. I also took the lsat and scored a 160. What do you guys recommend?

Med school basically guarantees a job after completion. Law school only guarantees a job really if you get into a T14. I also think doctors are, and should be, held to a much higher standard and would not recommend you attempting to be one unless you have a strong conviction to do so. Not saying lawyers dont need conviction, but you can do a host of other things that dont concern life and death with a JD.

I appreciate your response. I've only heard of 3-4 students dropping out/leaving per year at a medical school. I've never heard of 10-20% dropout rates, unless you're speaking of the Caribbean schools. Suppose though that I get into a T14 school, then which would be a better option? Don't be one of those people who just choose one over the other just because "it's better". Do it because it's what you want to go into

What's your criteria? If conviction is equal, then there's money and quality of life I guess. Doctors work erratic hours, so getting into a routine is unlikely to happen until years later. Lawyers work long hours, but it'll be the same long hours. Money? Depends on your practice of medicine. Surgeons start out $200K+ whereas lawyers make less out the gate but exponentially more over time IF youre on track for partner.

Now... all the numbers aside. Law all the way. You don't get covered in blood and shit and piss on a regular basis. You get to look snazzy as hell all the time. Plus, less of a chance you're screw up results in someone's death.

This was going to be my question. I can't believe most people are so concerned with status or money, and don't feel strongly enough about such differing fields, that they are really stuck at this fork in the road.

It's akin to getting your undergrad and saying "Welp, Accountant or Chemist?" Seems like a person stuck between these decisions lacks any kind of vocational soul.

That said, my class of 96 has two M.D.'s in it, one of whom is a neurosurgeon, so who am I to say what people want from life?

I want to be a lawyer because I get to wear a suit, look at contracts, and tell people I'm a lawyer. I want to go to into medicine because I can tell people I'm a doctor, make some bank, and wear a white coat. I'm having trouble picking one profession, so thats why I signed up on this website. I'd like to hear your views to help me decide.

You'll be making less money, so maybe it'll not be worth it in the long run. I'm not sure what will help you decide since, you seem to have no idea what you want to do.

I recommend being an adult and making a decision. If you took all the pre-med courses required for med school and the MCAT, you probably decided to be a doctor at some point. Also, this doesn't sound real.

lol maybe once you get your degree, but in med school and during your residency you will probably have to do some nasty stuff. also if money is a driving factor you are far more likely to be guaranteed a good life-time salary in medicine than in law. there might possibly be a higher ceiling in law than in medicine but chance isn't on your side and that would be a job you get 10 years down the line. Also a 160 probably isn't good enough to get you into a school that places well in biglaw if that is what you want out of your law degree. honestly if you really want to choose law then you should consider a retake.

So OP, you last posted under another account in March to
choose between being a lawyer and an optician because you loved both equally. Given the bad reasons you give for going into law and medicine here you need either to stop trolling or do a lot more soul-searching about what these jobs entail.
