Columbia Letter of Rec Requirments

The Columbia app requests that people who graduated in 2015 or earlier (which would include me) submit 1 academic LoR and 1 professional LoR. If we don't do this, we should submit an addendum explaining why not.
Does anyone know if it hurts your chances if you write the addendum? I have a job but don't want it to get out that I'm considering law school
