Ideal length for an LoR? Forum

Hello all,

The undergrad professor I asked for an LoR says she has never written one for law schools (she only got tenure recently) and wanted to clarify some housekeeping details with me: length, spacing etc.

Any thoughts from the hive mind?

General advice is one full page. Official letterhead of the school. Size 11 or 12. Standard headings and official formatting, perhaps with the address/receiver as LSAC.

However, I know someone who had a three-pager from a professor she knew extremely well. So I think any length is okay if there is content. I know in general, one page is okay. Make sure it emphasizes academic prowess and ability to succeed in law school and mentions personal anecdotes if possible.

same rule as a resume: if it goes onto a 2d page there had better be a good reason or it just hurts you
