Yeah, this has been around for a while. It's not very good at predicting compared to mylsn.info. Schools game the system, so an applicant w median gpa and lsat is very likely to get in while an applicant w/1 less point on lsat and .1 lower gpa will almost never get in. The predictor you are looking at doesn't account for this.

I've heard very little discussion of this topic anywhere.

It's (A x LSAT) + (B x GPA) + C = Index (different for each school)

Not all schools are included in this document; however, I was curious to see if running a sample through these formulas (as compared with running the schools' medians through the formulas) would yield any notable results. I did this for the six schools in the Top 14 that are included.

By comparing my this index to the median index, I still wasn't sure what to do with the information. I tried making up a formula to incorporate it into a "chances" methodology, which is currently 40% + (% above or below the median index x 20). This yielded reasonable results. I am stuck how to proceed, though. Maybe I am grasping at nothing? Also, obviously the spreadsheet falls apart rather quickly at the outer bounds.

For example:

Honestly, I am not sure this leads anywhere. I was simply curious about this index. There is little information on the Internet about how it is used.

Thoughts? Has anyone seen this before?
According to the former dean of UMN law now a law professor at UVA Alex Johnson, every school has an admission index of some sort, but they are most likely not as simple as this.

That's probably why a lot of schools don't even request this index.

I believe some old tools such as now defunct "Law School Predictor" are based on this index. Some people tried to calculate the "weight" of LSAT vs. uGPA carries in admission process by taking the ratio of A x LSAT and B x uGPA for each school. Again, all of those predictions are only as good as how legitimate that index is, which is probably not much.
