It seems it's extremely rare and certainly nothing to worry about. (This is all anecdotal, none of the schools I applied to asked for them).

I applied to every T14 except Yale, Stanford, and Berkeley. None of them asked for my SAT scores.

Even if they ask they really don't care. If your LSAT/GPA is high enough to get into the school you're applying to then you'll get in. Whether they ask or not, the SAT is irrelavent to law school admissions.

I was being sarcastic because this is an extremely easy thing to understand and I really didn't think this was a serious post.

Here's how law school admissions works:

LSAT>>>>GPA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>softs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>your Parents>>>>>your dog>>>>your cat>>>>anything else you could ever imagine putting on your application or talking to an ad com about>>>>> your SAT score

So far I haven't seen anything about SAT scores. I don't imagine it would matter. A standardized test score from before college doesn't really say much about someone applying to law school.

"Do they ask for SAT scores?" As others have said, you're not going to be asked for a standardized test score from high school.

The only scenario in which I think an SAT score would even be relevant in this process would be if you submitted an addendum for a low LSAT score for a particular school and in that addendum you argued that your exceptional UG academic record should be weighted more heavily than your LSAT score in adcomm review. You might say that my UG GPA was 3.9x in spite of my subpar SAT score back when I applied to college (as compared to the SAT distribution of students at the UG you attended), and so my standardized test results are not the best predictor of academic success. This "pattern of poor standardized testing" addendum comes up fairly often on these boards and while there are exceptions to the rule, in that situation most people here are going to tell that person to just retake.

If your SAT score was really good and your LSAT is not, then the above definitely doesn't apply and would mean a retake is almost certainly the best route.

^Similar to above, a friend of mine who is totally brilliant, talked about how she got 1200 out of 2400 on the SATs and ended up with a 4.0 in the honors program of her large state school. She scored <160 on the LSAT (I assume significantly) and is now at CLS. I have to think that would be the only good reason to disclose your SAT/ACT scores.

So based on the person above me, maybe if you're making an argument that you're academically successful but historically aren't great at standardized testing?

Some law students go for consulting jobs and have to disclose their SAT scores to the companies.

I applied to about half of the T14, so I can't remember specifically which school asked but I'm almost sure that at least one had a space for SAT score on its app (Maybe Berkeley because I know they asked a lot of additional questions??) I only remember this because I had to call my mom and ask her what I scored because I don't care enough to remember at this point

That being said, I agree with everyone above that schools don't care at all unless they're looking to confirm that you've been academically successful in the past despite a history of low standardized test scores.

He and Karen generally give fantastic advice (though Meeker struck me as a bit of a shill in his old thread), and I'd be shocked if he were so wrong about something like that. I applied very broadly since I had some extenuating circumstances, including every T14, and not one school asked for my SAT score.

If you look at page 14 of the collective pdf you'll see the question and answer towards bottom of the page. It was actually Karen who answered the question, not Mike.Aploogize for that.

They would only ask at the request of LSAC, who would do LSAC internal correlation studies between SAT and LSAT. It would have nothing to do with law school admissions. I hope this helps!
