Really early LOR inquiries

I am about to finish a class this summer with a soon-to-retire (I think) teacher who I think will write a terrific LOR better than generic ones I may get in the future 3 years from now when I graduate from undergrad. I have a few questions but because the LSAC representatives won't answer my questions until Tuesday and class ends next week I hope someone can provide knowledge from their experience.
I spoke with 2 LSAC representatives yesterday and they said something along the lines of ....if i get a LOR now it will last forever on my account but my account expires in 2 years but it is easily extendable and then I asked what's the purpose of it expiring if nothing is erased and she said she doesn't understand either.
My question is will my LOR last forever and if so what is the purpose of an expiration date on my account? (It may not be until 6 years from now when I apply to law school)
If it lasts forever, how disadvantageous is it that my LOR is that old? Which of the T14 require LOR 2 or so years prior to applying? Also I read this thread in which a poster said " 'Saving' your LORs on LSAC is easy. You have your recommender write your letter and mail it in to LSAC with the LOR form attached. LSAC will upload the letter and it will stay there for as long as your CAS is valid (5 years I believe). " which confuses me because now I don't know if i need to purchase CAS to keep my LOR on my account. http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 2&t=139192
