I'd wait for the new score. Taking in September means waiting until when? Like, mid October-early November? Your apps will still be in plenty early.

I'd wait. Have your apps ready to go immediately after gray day and you'll be fine.

Ok I'm going to lean in that direction then. I'm just concerned because my GPA isn't as competitive as some of the other students and so I want to get my apps in asap. Probably in the 30-50 percentile range of the schools I'm applying to.

They'll hold your apps waiting for your September score anyways and then it may be a hassle making sure they're all updated with the new score.
You also have a greater chance at getting fee waivers with a higher LSAT which could save you money. Also, if your score is drastically higher, it may completely change your application strategy.
