Please do not quote: Is there any point applying to a school that found you ineligible for their merit based application fee waiver?

weird request...

If you'd like to attend the school, then there is no point in not applying, unless you are so far below medians that it wouldn't make sense. If you have $100 to spend on an app, you can just shoot one out. Some schools are pretty stingy re: waivers.

Thanks for pointing out the nature of the request.

Now coming to the real issue: I just wasn't sure if the fee waiver gives any indication about how strong your application really is!

You're welcome. It's not like you're the only person who doesn't fit the criteria for merit-waivers at whatever school. It wouldn't make sense if it was an indication, though. Think about it from the school's perspective. They would get 0 money out of it because people who didn't get waivers wouldn't apply, knowing that their application wasn't strong. Some schools don't give merit-waivers. Some schools only do it based on an LSAC profile search. Some give them to people way below their range. They aren't offered completely arbitrarily (at least at top schools), but it doesn't mean that you're getting in (if you get one) or automatically rejected (if you don't).

As for this, you can check mylsn for a better representation of your chances. But below median is a tough sell for an applicant.
