Getting off Yield Protect Waitlist?

Hi all, so I'm pretty sure I got YPed at UCLA (3.7/171 with pretty decent softs). They're definitely one of my top schools though. So, if I don't get into Berkeley or one of my other top schools, do you think I'll get in off the waitlist if I just hang around?

Have you sent them a LOCI?

Write them a letter of continuing interest and express a strong interest in the school. Waiting around isn't a good idea. Show them that you're seriously interested and you might end up with a full ride. Search these forums for LOCI to find more info.

If you are able, visit the school. Write them beforehand to see if you can meet with someone in the admissions office. Even if they are unable to meet with you, visit the school. Be sure to check in with the admissions office when you go.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I sent them a LOCI right away, which I realize was too soon. I'm trying to publish a philosophy paper in an undergrad journal right now, so that might be a good update to send them later. I'll definitely try to get down to LA to see them this spring.
