So I applied to Emory early decision after I received my 3rd December LSAT score, which was a 163. I definitely wish I had scored a bit higher, but that was my testing average with a few 164s and a 167 once and a 169 once as well. I thought my personal statement was good, and my resume is pretty solid and I have a 3.62 UGPA and a 3.66 undergrad gpa.

I received notification that my application was received and complete yesterday and received my denial today. I know Emory doesn't do appeals, but I was wondering if I should ask what went wrong? I'm kind of afraid there is something really wrong with my app (maybe LORs) but I don't know how I should go about this. Any advice? I thought with these stats and my clear interest in the school I would be wait listed at least...

Send them an email and ask if the dean can go over your application with you at the end of the cycle. Then reapply next cycle. Other than that, dont think theres much you can do

Do you think that's a better route as opposed to calling and asking what happened? I guess I feel like people are forced to give you an actual answer over the phone versus through email.

But yeah, I think at this point I have nothing else to lose and have applied to 15 other schools so I'll see how it ends up before making the decision to wait another year.

Send them an email and ask if the dean can go over your application with you at the end of the cycle. Then reapply next cycle. Other than that, dont think theres much you can do

Maybe the one day turn around rejection could have been a mistake?

I thought that too, but they said that they give you a decision if you applied ED within 14 days at most. I mean one day seems a little quick, which is why I just feel like there is something wrong with my application. I'm just a little surprised because most calculators say that I'll be waitlisted at least...

Have a look at Emory's applicant grid from the 2015 pool that the school disclosed to LSAC.

There were 329 applicants with LSAT Scores between 160-164 who had GPAs in the range of 3.5-3.74. They only admitted 1 person in those combined number ranges. Obviously your numbers are the factor. In that same GPA range students who had a 165-169, they admitted 163 of 236 applicants.

lymenheimer is right. You should give them a call to ask the dean to take a look at your application. That's the best thing you can do right now.
