NYU scholarship

I'm trying to submit my application to NYU. There's a question on "scholarship programs." If I don't write any of the essays and don't apply for any of the scholarships, does it mean NYU will not grant any scholarship?
If I want to apply, can anybody shed some light on which one(s) are more suitable for me?
A little background information: LSAT 178, GPA Above Average (I'm an international applicant), four years of solid WE.
Thank you so much, and wish everyone applying as late as I am good luck!

Those essays are only for the named scholarships; they offer regular scholarships to those who don't write essays. You don't need to do anything to get those (and with your numbers I'd be surprised if you wouldn't get a 1/3 to 1/2 discount off the bat, after which you should ask for more--I got 75K with a slightly lower LSAT and a better foreign evaluation last year).

Sorry to take over, but for Berkeley I said yes for those scholarships. I might not even apply. Will this be negative?
THanks!

I was worried about this too because I missed the Jan 1st deadline for named scholarships. If you reread that section, they also have "Dean's scholarships ... up to full tuition" that don't have essay requirements or an early deadline. So we missed the boat on the special scholarships, but are still eligible for money.

This is very helpful. Thank you!
I would be very happy if granted 75k as you were.

I see that now. Thanks!
Just out of curiosity--I am myself too lazy to write essays--do many people write the required essays and get one of those named scholarships?

I think it says on the website how many are given out each year for each named scholarship. I know RTK is 20 per year. Furman Policy was 2 last year.

I'm not sure how strict they are with the Jan. 1 deadline for the named scholarships. If they still allow submissions and you are interested in one of the scholarships, you should write an essay for it so that the scholarship committee can see why they should pick you. That being said, there have been cases where applicants did not write the scholarship essays and were still invited to interview for the scholarship--but that's pretty rare.

Any idea what it might take to get one of the named full tuition scholarships? I have good numbers but I doubt that numbers alone are sufficient.
