Typos in essays.

I feel like I've been hijacking this forum lately. I noticed a typo (swapped words) in my PS and a tense error in my diversity statement. Two schools that accepted my in Dec didnt seem to care, but I recently sent an application to a T14.

According to this, I can call up the school and request to resubmit the application with updated statements. Has anyone done this? The errors may not be noticed but I dont want to chance it. I proofread like crazy and had others read it. It was missed by 2 others but caught by a 3rd person.

Should I move on or try to fix the situation? Other threads I've searched say things along the lines of "yup, you're done"....

Luckily I havent sent any apps in besides MIchigan and BU/BC yet.

Don't worry. Typos happen. I noticed one in one of my optional essays but if it's small, it is best to just let it go. Especially if it is one in BOTH your PS and DS. If you try to replace BOTH documents that might make the situation seem way bigger than it really is... who knows - they might only catch one and not the other (since they read so many damn essays a day) - so you could in fact do more harm than good bringing both to their attention. Plus, I think adcoms can be more forgiving than you think. Have faith and (as the previous poster said) BREATH!!!! You will be fine :)

Here is an article from Ann Levine on this issue:

Also, check the school's application instructions/website. Some school explicitly say you should not re-submit an essay if you find spelling/grammar errors. If you send an updated essay to those schools it will look far worse than having a typo in your original essay.

Thanks everyone! I feel much more relaxed now. Plus when 2 others didnt catch it I figured it wouldnt be a huge problem. Fixed it and submitted the improved version to the rest of the schools!

Frankly speaking, It happens sometimes. Essay can't be ideal, so you can make a few mistakes. As well, as many people so many thoughts, there is no an exceptional approach to essay writing. What I can tell you, if you wanna get a good and high-quality essay and for some reason, you have no time for that, you can contact professionals, who are able to help you. Personally, I was using SPAM. They did their job great!
