LSAT Addendum Question

Hi everyone!

I was wondering how useful writing an LSAT addendum is? Just in general, do they help a bad LSAT score? I am just curious as to why people write them. Do they help that much? What exactly warrants an LSAT addendum? Thank you :D

My understanding is that an LSAT addendum is usually used to explain significant score discrepancies. I imagine they can only help a bad LSAT score if there is a higher LSAT score to go with it. "I got a 162 because my entire family died in a plan crash, but then I retook when I was in a better place and got a 174" would probably make a school look more kindly on the 162 (though they probably only care about the higher score anyway). If you have a 152 and wrote an addendum about having malaria when you took the test, that's all well and good, but there's no evidence that you can actually do well on the test when you're having a good day.

Depends what your reason is. But even if it is a "good" addendum it will probably have a very minimal effect.
