I got a marijuana possession ticket when I was 18. The record of it has been gone since I was 19. How bad does this look to law schools?

Thanks.

Not very bad. How old are you now?

To be clear, when I write my explanation, do I just explain the incident and the surrounding circumstances or should I include something about how I've moved on from that sort of behavior?

Thanks.

Because it sounds like it was an isolated incident, just include the basic information of what happened and a description of the resolution (i.e. that you paid your ticket,) and that you have had no issues since the incident. Just make sure you don't include any excuses or anything that may sound like an excuse. Also, IMO saying stuff like "I learned my lesson" is a little cheesey. I think its sufficient to say that you havent had any additional issues.
